Show a Familiar Local Number with Local Presence Dialing
Contacts answer calls from numbers that look local far more often than from unfamiliar ones. Local Presence Dialing automatically picks the best available outbound caller ID from your phone numbers, based on where the contact is located.
Where it works
- Location matching covers the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia.
- It works for calls from the web dialer, the mobile app and desk phones.
How the number is chosen
Vendi Today looks for a suitable number in this order and uses the first match:
- The contact's ZIP or postal code
- Area code
- Overlay code
- Nearest available number by distance
- Same region
- Your default number
If no suitable match exists, the call simply goes out with your default number, so calls are never blocked.
Repeat attempts
Once a number has been selected for a contact, later calls to that person use the same number, so they always see a consistent caller ID.
Settings
- Go to Settings > Phone System.
- Open Voice > Other Settings > Outbound calls.
- Scroll to Local presence dialing and configure it.
You can reserve up to 50 numbers so they are never auto-selected. Reserved numbers stay available when someone dials manually, for example your main office line.
Tips
- Buy numbers in the area codes where most of your leads live.
- Keep contact addresses and postal codes filled in; they drive the best matches.
- Reserve numbers with a special purpose, such as a toll-free support line.
- Make sure your calling practices follow local rules for outbound calls and consent.
Good to know: The more local numbers you own, the more calls will show a nearby caller ID, so build your number pool around your key markets.
