Add a Table of Contents to a Blog Post
A table of contents turns your headings into clickable links near the top of a long article, letting readers jump to the part they need.
How it works
The table is built from the headings (H2, H3 and so on) you use in the post. Each entry links to its heading on the page.
Add one
- Open Sites > Blog, choose your blog and open a post in the editor.
- Make sure your content uses proper headings.
- Click the Table of Contents icon in the editor toolbar.
- Pick one of the three layouts, which differ in how headings are indented.
- Place the cursor where it should appear if prompted.
- Style the entries with bold, italic, underline, strikethrough or a font size from the toolbar.
- Save or update the post.
Why use it
- Easier reading on long guides and tutorials.
- Gives search engines a clearer picture of the article's structure.
- Reduces bounce for visitors looking for one specific answer.
Good to know: Use short, descriptive headings; they double as the link labels in your table of contents.
