Local Presence Dialing

Local presence dialing automatically shows a caller ID that matches the area code of the person you're calling, so your outbound calls look local instead of coming from an out-of-area or toll-free number. Recipients are more likely to answer a call that looks like it's from their own area.

How the system picks a number

When you place an outbound call, it checks your available numbers in this order:

1. A number you own with the exact same area code as the recipient.
2. If none, a number from the same general region.
3. If neither is available, your account's default caller ID.

Turning it on

1. Go to Settings > Phone System > Advanced Settings > Voice Calls > Outbound Call.
2. Under Default Phone Number for Outbound Calls, toggle Enable Local Presence Dialing to on.

Things to know

• Available for US and Canada numbers only.
• It's an account-wide setting — you can't turn it on for some users and off for others.
• You can still manually pick a specific number for an individual call before dialing; local presence dialing resumes automatically for the next call.
