Pre- and Post-Appointment Buffers

Buffers add extra padding time immediately before or after an appointment slot, so back-to-back bookings don't leave you scrambling. They're useful when you need setup time before a meeting, travel time to a job site, or a few minutes to wrap up notes after a session.

How buffers work

  • A pre-buffer blocks off time right before an appointment, so nothing else can be booked into that window.
  • A post-buffer blocks off time right after an appointment ends.

Both apply only to appointments booked within Vendi Today or synced in from a connected third-party calendar — they don't retroactively affect appointments that already existed before you turned buffers on.

Setting up buffers

  1. Open Calendars, then select an existing calendar (click Edit) or start creating a new one.
  2. Go to Advanced Settings > Availability.
  3. Enter the buffer duration you want before the appointment (pre-buffer) and/or after it (post-buffer).
  4. Save your changes.

Buffers are configured per calendar, so different services can have different amounts of padding.

A note on double buffering

Using both a pre-buffer and a post-buffer at the same time — sometimes called double buffering — can noticeably shrink the number of bookable slots in your day, since every appointment now consumes extra time on both sides. If you're trying to maximize how many appointments fit into a day, consider using only one type of buffer rather than both.

To turn buffers off entirely, set the duration back to zero.
