Use Quick Replies for Facebook and Instagram
Quick replies give a contact a set of tappable buttons instead of asking them to type a response — useful for guiding a conversation, qualifying a lead, or offering a fast menu of options over Facebook Messenger or Instagram DM.
How they're built
Quick replies are created through a workflow, where you define the predefined response options tied to a particular message.
What the contact sees
When your message arrives, the recipient sees the quick reply buttons underneath it and can select one with a single tap. Whatever they pick is logged in the conversation as an inbound message (shown in blue) — exactly as if they'd typed it themselves.
Limits
- Up to 13 quick replies can be offered on a single message.
- Each reply option is limited to 20 characters.
Platform differences
- On Facebook, quick replies can appear alongside buttons and images in the same message.
- On Instagram, quick replies can't be included if the message also has an attachment.
One behavior to know
Once a contact taps a quick reply, they can't change their selection afterward — it locks in their answer, which keeps the interaction focused and avoids back-and-forth confusion over what they meant to pick.
