Getting Started with Documents & Contracts
Documents & Contracts lets you build proposals, agreements, and invoices that clients can review and sign online — no printing, scanning, or third-party e-signature tool required.
Where to find it
Open Payments > Documents & Contracts from the main menu. The dashboard is organized into tabs:
- Draft — documents you're still working on
- Waiting for others — sent and awaiting a signature
- Completed — fully signed
- Payments — documents tied to an invoice or payment
- Archived — declined, expired, or manually archived documents
Creating your first document
- Click + New in Documents & Contracts.
- Choose to start from a blank page, upload a PDF, or use one of the built-in templates.
- Use the editor to add text, images, tables, page breaks, and product/pricing lists.
- Drop in fillable fields — signature, initials, date, text, or checkbox — wherever a recipient needs to respond.
- Add one or more recipients and assign each person the fields meant for them.
- Optionally attach a payment request so the client can pay as part of signing.
- Preview the document, then send it by email or share a link.
What happens after you send it
Recipients open a secure link in their browser — no login or app download needed — fill in their fields, and sign. Once everyone required has signed, Vendi Today combines everything into a single finished PDF and moves the document to Completed.
Good to know
- Save any document as a template so you can reuse the layout, fields, and pricing for future clients.
- Every signed document keeps an audit trail of who signed, when, and from what IP address, which you can pull up anytime for your records.
- Documents can also be triggered automatically from a workflow, tracked for opens and views, and connected to invoices — see the other articles in this section for details on each of those.
