Shorten and Track Links in Social Posts
The link shortener swaps long web addresses for compact ones in your published posts, and it records how many people click them so you can see which posts drive traffic.
Create a short link
- Go to Marketing > Social Planner and click + New Post, then Create New Post.
- Select your accounts and write the post.
- Click the URL Shortener icon beside the text box.
- Enter a Link Name and the Target URL.
- Under tracking, pick or create a UTM campaign and add any custom UTM parameters, such as source or medium.
- Click Generate and Insert Link.
In the editor you still see the full link, while the preview and the published post use the short one. Short links are generated automatically and cannot be edited.
Why add campaign tags
Without tags, website analytics may label traffic as direct or generic referral. With tags you can compare an organic post against an ad, one partner against another, or one placement against another. The short link keeps the long tagged URL tidy.
See the results
Open Statistics in Social Planner and go to URL Tracking. You can view total clicks per link, clicks by network, and trends over time. Posts that use the same link and campaign name are grouped together. Sort to see the best and weakest links, and select a link to preview it. Only links created in Social Planner appear here.
Using other tools
You can still paste short links from an outside service, but those clicks will not appear in Vendi Today statistics.
Good to know: Name your campaigns consistently, such as "spring-sale-2026", so related posts roll up into a single report.
