Find and Fix Errors Before You Publish

The builder checks your triggers and actions for configuration problems such as empty required fields, disconnected integrations, or incomplete If/Else and Wait settings. Issues are flagged on the canvas and collected in a single panel.

Saving versus publishing

You can save at any time, even with errors showing, so unfinished work is never lost. Autosave works the same way. Publishing is stricter: problems that would stop a workflow from running correctly must be fixed first.

Resolve errors step by step

  1. Open the workflow and build as usual, saving as needed.
  2. Click Publish.
  3. If something blocks publishing, a message lists the affected steps. Click Review issues.
  4. The Resolve Errors sidebar lists each problem and its step.
  5. For each entry, click Open step to jump to that step's settings, or How to fix for AI-generated guidance on the problem.
  6. Correct the setting. The red marker and sidebar entry disappear once it is valid.
  7. Repeat for the remaining items, then publish.

Examples of what gets flagged

  • A trigger with no calendar selected.
  • An SMS step with an empty message body.
  • An email step missing a subject.
  • An integration whose connection has expired and needs reconnecting.

Two kinds of errors

Pre-publish errors are setup problems you see in the builder. Errors that occur while contacts are running through a live workflow are different; check Execution Logs and Enrollment History for those.

You can hide the red markers to declutter the canvas, but hiding does not fix the issue.

Good to know: AI guidance is a helpful starting point, but always read the suggested change before accepting it.
