Create New Tags While Sending a Campaign

Tags let you segment contacts and start automations. You no longer need to leave the campaign to create one, because you can make tags directly on the Send or Schedule screen.

Add a new tag

  1. Open a campaign under Marketing > Emails > Campaigns.
  2. Click Send or Schedule.
  3. Find Add Tags and switch it on.
  4. Switch on Automate if the tags should start a Workflow.
  5. Type the name of your new tag in the dropdown.
  6. Click Add. The tag is created and applied to the campaign at once.

You can create several tags before scheduling.

What happens to the tag

  • It is saved in your main tag list in Contacts, ready for other campaigns and Workflows.
  • Contacts receive the tag when the campaign goes out.
  • You can edit or remove tags until the campaign is sent. After sending, applied tags are not removed automatically.

Do I need Automate?

Only if a Workflow should trigger from the tag. For plain segmentation, leave it off.

Avoid duplicates

Because tags are created from whatever you type, spelling matters. "VIP" and "vip-list" would become two separate tags. Check the existing list first, and agree on a naming style with your team.

Good to know: Tagging everyone a campaign was sent to is a handy way to build a "received this email" audience for later follow-ups.
