Follow Up on Surveys with the Survey Submitted Trigger

Surveys tell you what people think and who is worth talking to. The Survey Submitted trigger starts a workflow when a contact completes a survey, so thanks, tagging and routing happen automatically.

What fires it

The workflow runs when a contact submits a survey. It works for surveys embedded in funnels or websites and for surveys shared through a link.

Filters

  • Survey is: choose one or more surveys. Leave it blank to react to every survey.
  • Disqualified: is true or is false, based on whether the survey's qualification rules marked the contact as disqualified.
  • Terms and conditions: match people who did or did not agree to terms, if the survey has that checkbox.

The trigger does not read individual answers directly. To build logic around answers, save them to custom fields or tags and use a Condition step.

Set it up

  1. Go to Automation > Workflows and create a workflow.
  2. Click Add New Trigger and select Survey Submitted.
  3. Name it, for example "Feedback survey submitted".
  4. Click Add filters, choose Survey is and pick the survey, then add Disqualified is false.
  5. Click Save Trigger, add actions, and publish.

Example workflows

  • Qualified leads: send a booking link, create an opportunity and notify a rep.
  • Disqualified: send a polite note with helpful resources and tag them.
  • Feedback: send a thank-you message and mark the survey as completed in a field. If the score is low, alert the support lead.

Tips

  • Use two triggers in one workflow, one for disqualified and one for qualified, when the later steps differ.
  • Test with a dummy submission and watch the enrollment history.

Good to know: The Form Submitted trigger works the same way for forms, so you can copy a survey workflow and swap the trigger.
