Build Parallel Paths with the Advanced Builder
The Advanced Builder is a freeform canvas where you can place steps anywhere, connect several trigger paths, and run independent branches in one workflow. It changes how you design, not how workflows execute.
Switch to it
Open any workflow and toggle Advanced Builder at the top left. You can switch back to the standard builder on the same workflow at any time.
Add and connect steps
- Open the Triggers & Actions panel and click an item, or drag it onto the canvas.
- Connect steps by dragging from a connector handle or using the + icon.
- Drop a step on the last node of a branch to extend it, or between two linked nodes to insert it.
- Select many nodes with a marquee or Shift-drag to move or copy whole branches, including to other workflows.
Save each new step after placing it: unconfigured actions never run.
Trigger Go-To connections
A trigger can start at any action, not just the first. Drag a trigger's Go-To connector onto the target action. It appears as a dashed line with an arrowhead, while normal links stay solid. When that trigger fires, the workflow jumps straight to the target.
Delinked branches
Create an independent cluster of steps anywhere on the canvas and attach a trigger to it with a Go-To connection. This lets one workflow handle several unrelated outcomes, such as separate reminder paths.
Choose a Default Path
With multiple parallel branches, the Default Path decides where test contacts, and contacts added from another workflow, begin.
- Open a workflow with parallel branches.
- On the first action of the desired branch, click the branch icon.
- Set it as the Default Path.
Limits
A contact enters once per workflow; they will not run through several branches at the same time.
Good to know: Use dashed lines as your visual cue: dashed means "jump to here", solid means "next step".
