Increasing Messaging Limits

Every account starts with a daily sending limit that increases gradually over time — a "ramp" designed to protect your deliverability, not slow you down arbitrarily. Jumping straight to high volume is one of the most common ways to trigger carrier filtering or a suspension, so the limits exist for your own benefit.

How the ramp works

New numbers typically start around 100–500 messages a day. To advance to the next level, you generally need to send at (or near) your current limit within a 24-hour period; after that, there's a short pause before the next tier unlocks automatically. Higher tiers can reach several thousand messages a day.

Check your current level and what's needed to advance from Settings > Phone System > Messaging, where a ramp progress indicator shows your status.

Message throughput (how fast, not just how many)

Separately from your daily limit, throughput controls how fast messages actually send — measured in messages per second (MPS). If you send a batch larger than your throughput allows, the excess doesn't fail; it queues and sends at your approved rate. Throughput is generally tied to your registered A2P brand's trust level — a higher-trust brand gets a faster sending rate. See What Is A2P 10DLC? if you haven't registered yet, since throughput for unregistered numbers is much more limited.

Requesting a manual increase

If the automatic ramp isn't fast enough for a genuine business need, you can request a limit increase from Settings > Phone System > Advanced Settings > Message Limit (self-serve, if your account qualifies) or by contacting support. Whichever path you use, scale up gradually rather than requesting a huge jump — even an approved higher limit can still trigger carrier-side filtering if your actual sending pattern looks like a sudden spike.
