How Workflow Triggers Work: Events, Filters and Enrollment

A trigger is the event that starts a workflow. Until at least one trigger matches, nothing in the workflow runs, so choosing and configuring it carefully is the most important part of any automation in Vendi Today.

What a trigger does

When something happens in your account, such as a form being submitted, a tag being added or a payment arriving, Vendi Today checks every published workflow for triggers that listen for that event. If the event passes the trigger's filters, the contact is enrolled and the first action runs.

A trigger has three parts:

  • Event type: the thing you are listening for.
  • Filters: optional conditions that narrow the event down, for example only one form or only one pipeline stage.
  • Name: a label you choose, shown on the canvas and in enrollment history.

Add a trigger

  1. Go to Automation > Workflows and open or create a workflow.
  2. Click Add New Trigger.
  3. Search for the event or browse the groups, then select it.
  4. Type a clear Workflow Trigger Name.
  5. Click Add filters and choose the conditions that must be true. Leave filters empty to react to every occurrence.
  6. Click Save Trigger, add your actions, then switch the workflow from Draft to Publish.

Working with several triggers

A workflow can hold many triggers, and any one of them can enroll a contact. This is handy when different events should lead into the same follow-up, such as a form submission and a booked appointment both ending in the same welcome sequence. Each enrollment is credited to the single trigger that fired.

Filters that behave the same everywhere

  • Filters set to Require All mean every condition must pass; Require Any lets one passing condition be enough.
  • Dropdown filters usually accept several choices at once.
  • Text filters often offer Contains phrase and Exact match options.

If nothing happens

Check that the workflow is published, that the filters are not too strict, and that the contact has not already been enrolled when re-entry is switched off in Settings. The trigger statistics view shows how many events were attempted and why some did not match.

Good to know: Name triggers after their purpose, such as "Hot lead tagged", so enrollment history stays readable months later.
