Use Basecamp Triggers and Actions in Workflows
Basecamp steps let your workflow start client delivery the moment a sale closes and react when your team posts updates in a project.
Triggers
These fire immediately through webhooks: New To-do, New To-do List, New Comment Added, New Document, New Message Posted, and New Activity in a project.
Actions
- Create: Create Project, Create To-do List, Create To-do, Create Message, Create Campfire Message, Create Document.
- Update: Update To-do, Add Person to Project.
- Find: Find Project, Find To-do List, Find To-do, Find Document, Find Person.
The Find actions are useful for searching before creating, so you avoid duplicates.
Connect and build
- In Automation > Workflows, add a Basecamp trigger or action and click Connect Now.
- Sign in to Basecamp and approve access. Alternatively use Settings > Integrations.
- For a trigger, choose the project, run Test Trigger, and map the sample fields.
- For an action, select the project and list, then map titles, assignees, and due dates.
- Save and publish.
Notes
- Connections belong to the account where you authorize them, so repeat the connection wherever you need Basecamp.
- Some features depend on the Basecamp plan you hold.
Example
When a Payments invoice is paid, create a Basecamp project, add a to-do list named "Kickoff," and add the client as a person.
Good to know: Put Find Project before Create Project so reruns do not make a second copy.
