Jump Contacts Ahead with the Goal Event Action
The Goal Event action watches for something a contact does and, the moment it happens, moves them past the waiting steps instead of making them walk through every one. It is the cleanest way to stop a nurture sequence once a lead has done what you wanted.
What it can watch for
Pick a goal type under Select Type of Goal:
- Form Submitted, Payment Received, Invoice Paid (paid or partially paid) and Document Status (viewed, signed, declined, completed).
- Email Events such as opened, clicked, complained or marked as spam.
- Clicked a Trigger Link and Review Request Clicked.
- Contact Tag Added or Removed and Appointment Status (new, confirmed, showed, no-show).
- User Replied, met when a team member's reply is delivered to the contact.
When you select several forms, products or channels, any one match meets the goal.
Set it up
- Open Automation > Workflows and edit your workflow.
- Click +, then choose Goal Event from the internal actions.
- Give it a clear Action Name, such as "Booked a call".
- Choose the goal type and fill in its criteria.
- Under If Contact Reaches This Goal Without Meeting Conditions, choose End this workflow, Continue anyway or Wait until the goal is met.
- Click Save Action, then Publish.
Example
A five-email nurture sequence should stop when the lead books. Place the Goal Event near the top with the goal "Appointment Status: Confirmed" and set it to end the workflow. As soon as the appointment is confirmed, the contact leaves the sequence.
Good to know: Each workflow supports only one Goal Event action, so put all your criteria inside that single action.
