Recipe: Score and Follow Up Leads by Video Watch Time
If you use a video on a funnel page, such as a sales presentation or webinar replay, watch time shows who is genuinely interested. This recipe turns it into automatic scoring and follow-up.
Setup before the workflows
- Host the video on a funnel page, and disable its progress bar for accurate tracking.
- Capture viewer details first with a registration form that redirects to the video page. The viewer must be a contact.
Create four small workflows
Make one workflow per milestone, each with the Video Tracking trigger set to your funnel and video.
- 25% watched
- Trigger: Video Duration (%) = 25.
- Action: Modify Engagement Score by +10.
- Action: Add tag "Video 25".
- 50% watched
- Trigger at 50.
- Action: score +20, add tag "Video 50".
- Action: send a thank-you email with a related resource.
- 75% watched
- Trigger at 75.
- Action: score +30, add tag "Video 75".
- 100% watched
- Trigger at 100.
- Action: send an invitation to book a consultation.
- Action: create a task for sales and add tag "Video Complete".
Drop-off recovery
Create a fifth workflow from the 25% trigger: Wait a day, then use If/Else to check whether the contact has the "Video Complete" tag. If not, send a friendly "Pick up where you left off" email with the video link.
Use the scores
- Build a smart list of contacts above a certain engagement score.
- Prioritize calls to people tagged "Video 75" or higher.
- Trigger a different offer for people who finished.
Tips
- Keep point values simple and consistent.
- Review results after a few weeks and adjust thresholds.
Good to know: Tag every milestone; tags are easier to filter and segment than scores alone.
