Fixing Funnel URL Indexing and Duplicate Path Problems
Search engines sometimes find several versions of the same funnel page, or your URL ends with a string of random digits. Both come down to path conflicts, and both can be cleaned up from inside Vendi Today.
Why Random Numbers Appear
Every published path on a domain must be unique. If a funnel step uses a path that another funnel step, website page or store page already owns, Vendi Today appends a numeric string to prevent a clash. Remember that a funnel has a funnel-level URL (usually showing the first step) and separate step URLs, so changing one does not rewrite the other.
- Go to Sites > Funnels and open the affected funnel.
- Select the step showing the odd URL and open its settings.
- In the Path field, enter a short path nobody else on that domain uses.
- Save and re-check the live link.
Choose Between a Canonical Tag and a Redirect
- Canonical tag: use it when several URLs stay reachable but search engines should prefer one. Open the funnel's SEO Settings > SEO Meta Data, find the custom meta tags area, and add a tag like
<link rel="canonical" href="https://yourdomain.com/preferred-page" />. - 301 redirect: use it when the old URL should send visitors to the new one. Create it under Sites > URL Redirects. This also protects links in ads, emails and social posts after you rename a path.
Check Search Console
After changes, open Google Search Console, run the URL Inspection tool on your preferred URL, compare the indexed and canonical addresses, and request indexing if needed. Google decides when to recrawl, so allow some time.
Treat www and non-www as separate versions and stick with one. Do not add a noindex tag to cure duplicates, because that removes the page from search results entirely.
Good to know: Renaming a path breaks old links unless you add a 301 redirect first.
