Why Updated Contact Fields Do Not Appear on a Funnel Page
You may use a custom field on a funnel page, such as a quiz score or estimate, and find it blank even though the contact record shows a value. This comes down to where the page reads its data.
What Is Happening
When a visitor submits a form, survey or order form, their answers are held in the browser (local storage and cookies) so the next page can display them quickly. If a field is later changed by a Workflow, an integration or another back-end process, the contact record updates but the visitor's browser does not. The page therefore has nothing to show.
This is by design, since it keeps pages fast and personalized to what the visitor entered.
How to Check
- Find out how the field is filled: directly by the visitor through a form or survey, or by automation.
- If it is filled by automation, expect it to be missing on the page.
Fixes
- Add the field to the form or survey so the visitor's own submission stores it in the browser.
- Alternatively, use custom script logic to place automation-updated values into browser storage before the page renders.
- Where possible, do the calculation on the page, for example with a form's math feature, instead of in a Workflow.
Related Tip
Custom values that sit inside links or are formatted as hyperlinks may fail to render, so keep merge text as plain text.
Good to know: Test with a fresh private browser window and a real submission, since your own browser may hold older stored values.
