Let Respondents Pause and Resume Long Forms

Save Progress keeps answers when someone leaves a multi-step form, survey or quiz, so they can come back and continue.

How it works for visitors

  1. The visitor answers some questions, then closes the tab or navigates away.
  2. Their answers are saved.
  3. When they reopen the same link, a "Submission in progress" window appears.
  4. They choose Continue to pick up where they stopped, or Start Over for a fresh submission.

It works on desktop and mobile. The continue window automatically matches your button color and label font.

Turn it on

  1. Open the form, survey or quiz in edit mode.
  2. Click the Settings tab.
  3. Switch on Save Exit Confirmation.
  4. Click Save.

If the toggle is off, anyone who leaves must start again.

Best uses

  • Detailed intake and onboarding questionnaires.
  • Applications where people need to look up information.
  • Long assessments completed across more than one sitting.

Pair it with partial capture

For surveys, also consider capturing the contact early so you can follow up with anyone who stops midway (see the partial contact article for surveys).

Good to know: Progress is stored in the visitor's browser, so it resumes on the same device and browser they started with.
