Auto-Post New Content from an RSS Feed
An RSS post watches a feed such as your blog, podcast, or video channel and publishes each new item to your social accounts without any manual work.
What you need
- A valid RSS or Atom feed URL.
- Social accounts connected under Social Planner > Settings.
- Any connected network that supports standard posts can be used as a destination.
Tip for finding a feed: many blogs publish it at the site address followed by /feed. If that fails, view the page source and search for "rss" or "atom".
Set up an RSS post
- Open Marketing > Social Planner and click + New Post, then select RSS Post.
- Paste the feed URL.
- Choose the accounts to publish to.
- Optionally fill in End with to append hashtags, text, or a link to every post.
- Pick how often to check the feed, anywhere from every 5 minutes to once a day.
- Set Maximum posts (1 to 5), the most new items fetched per check. Each item is still published only once.
- Turn on Include Description if you want the item summary added beneath the title.
- Review the multi-item preview to see how text will be trimmed, then save.
How duplicates are avoided
Vendi Today remembers the items it has seen for 90 days. Each item is identified by its unique ID, or by its link and title when no ID exists. Items are posted once, repeats are skipped, and late or out-of-order items are still caught.
Good to know about previews
Text is generated separately for each network to fit its character limit, so one item may be shortened differently on different platforms. Images come from the link preview, so set a featured image and Open Graph tags on your source pages.
Good to know: You can edit an RSS post later to change the check frequency or item limit without recreating it.
