Toll-Free Number Verification

Toll-free numbers used to send SMS/MMS in the US and Canada must be verified before they can text at full volume. Unverified numbers get filtered or blocked by carriers, so this is a required step, not an optional one.

What you'll need

Before starting, gather:

  • Your legal business name
  • Your business website or a social media profile
  • Your physical business address
  • A description of what you're texting about (your use case)
  • At least two sample messages you plan to send
  • Proof of how recipients opted in (e.g., a screenshot of your signup form)

How to submit

  1. Go to Settings > Phone System > Phone Numbers.
  2. Find your toll-free number — if it needs verification, you'll see a Verification Required alert on it.
  3. Click the alert and fill out the form:
    • Business and contact information
    • Business location
    • Use case category and expected monthly volume
    • Proof of opt-in
    • Sample messages
  4. Submit for review.

What to expect

Review typically takes several weeks. While a number is Pending Verification, Restricted, or Rejected, it can't send SMS or MMS — voice calling is unaffected. If your submission is rejected, check the rejection reason and resubmit with corrected information; vague use-case descriptions or missing opt-in proof are the most common causes.
