Add and Manage Followers on Contacts
Ownership isn't the only way someone needs access to a record. A follower is a team member added to a contact (or opportunity) so they can view and manage it — even if their normal permissions would otherwise keep them out of that data — without taking over as the owner.
What followers can and can't do
- Can view and edit the record's details
- Can see appointments tied to that contact, subject to their own calendar permissions
- Cannot change who owns the record
Up to 10 followers can be added to a single record.
Adding followers manually
On a contact: open the contact's detail page and add followers directly from there.
On an opportunity: open the opportunity, go to Opportunity Details, and add followers from there.
Automating followers with workflows
- Add Contact Followers — automatically assigns followers when a contact enters the workflow.
- Remove Contact Followers — removes specific followers, or clears all, when triggered.
Both actions live in the Contact category of the workflow builder.
Why this is useful
A lightweight way to keep the right people in the loop on specific records without changing ownership.
