Use Copy Code to Embed a Countdown Timer Elsewhere
The Copy Code button gives you a snippet that displays your timer on a website or in an email built outside Vendi Today. Static timers work as pasted; dynamic ones need a couple of values filled in.
What Needs Editing
| Where it will live | Edit start date? | Edit unique ID? |
|---|---|---|
| Any website or landing page | No, paste as is | Optional |
| Static email, same deadline for all | Yes, enter the send time | Not needed |
| Dynamic email in Vendi Today | Yes, use the current date-time merge field | Keep the default contact ID or swap for another field |
| Dynamic email in another tool | Yes, use that tool's current-time merge tag | Use a per-recipient merge tag |
Think of the start date as the trigger moment and the unique ID as a personal serial number that stops everyone from seeing the same cached image.
Steps
- Create and save your timer in Marketing, then Countdown Timers.
- Click the timer, then Copy Code.
- Choose Email or Website and pick the alignment.
- For dynamic timers, replace the contact ID placeholder with the unique field you want.
- Replace the start date placeholder with a real ISO date such as 2025-01-01T15:30:00Z, or a current-time merge tag.
- Paste the snippet into your page or email HTML.
- Send a test to yourself.
Troubleshooting
- Timer never starts: the start date is missing or invalid.
- Everyone sees the same time: the unique ID is hard-coded instead of a merge tag.
- Wrong time zone: end the date with Z or an offset like -05:00.
Good to know: Copy Code displays the clock; use the redirection link separately if buttons need deadline-aware routing.
