RSS Header and RSS Items in the Email Builder
RSS blocks pull fresh content from a feed, such as a blog or news site, into your email automatically. There are two blocks: RSS Header and RSS Items.
RSS Header
The header fills in details about the feed itself. It supports these custom values:
- Feed title:
{{rss_feed.title}} - Feed description:
{{rss_feed.description}} - Feed link:
{{rss_feed.url}} - Last build date:
{{rss_feed.date}}
You can also use these in the email subject line.
RSS Items
The items block repeats once for every feed entry and uses its own values:
- Title:
{{rss_item.title}} - Summary:
{{rss_item.content}} - Full content:
{{rss_item.content_full}} - Link:
{{rss_item.url}} - Published date:
{{rss_item.date}} - Author:
{{rss_item.author}} - Image address:
{{rss_item.imageUrl}}
The tags {{#rss_items rss_items}} and {{/rss_items}} mark the beginning and end of the repeating section.
Basic or Custom
In the RSS Editing Options dropdown:
- Basic inserts a fixed, pre-formatted layout you cannot edit.
- Custom inserts the same layout as editable text, so you can rearrange fields, add author lines or change link wording.
Adding the blocks
- Open an email in Marketing > Emails.
- Click Add Elements and drag in RSS Header, RSS Items or both.
- Choose Basic or Custom.
- Edit the text if you chose Custom.
Images
To show the item's image, use the image helper {{rss_img}} with the image address, your alt text and desired size.
Good to know: Start with Basic to confirm the feed works, then switch to Custom once you know how your feed fills each field.
