Set Expiry Dates for Certificates

Some certifications shouldn't last forever. Set expiration at either the template level or on an individual issued certificate.

Two levels of control

  • Template level: default expiry rule for every certificate issued from that template.
  • Individual certificate level: overrides the template setting for one specific certificate.

Setting expiry on an individual certificate

  1. Find the issued certificate in your Certificates dashboard.
  2. Open its options and choose to set an expiry.
  3. Pick Never, Immediately, or a custom date.

What happens when a certificate expires

The recipient can no longer preview or access it from their Client Portal.

Pairing with reminders

See "Set Certificate Expiry Reminder Emails" to configure heads-up emails.
