Connect a Physical VoIP Desk Phone (SIP)
If your team prefers a real desk phone over a headset and browser dialer, you can connect a compatible SIP device and it'll work through the same phone system — call recording, transcription, and transfers all still apply.
What you need
A desk phone that supports:
- Open SIP protocol
- Power over Ethernet (PoE), or an external power adapter
- Programmable line keys
Popular compatible models include the Yealink T54W/T58W, Poly VVX 450, Grandstream GXP 2170, Snom D785, and Cisco 7841 — though any open-SIP device should work.
Network requirements
Make sure your network allows:
- Ports 5060/5061 open for SIP signaling
- UDP ports 10000–20000 open for call audio
If these are blocked by a firewall, the phone may register but calls will fail to connect or carry no audio.
Setup steps
- Go to Settings > Phone System > Advanced Settings > VoIP Deskphone (SIP).
- Confirm or set your SIP domain.
- Create an extension and a strong password for the device.
- Assign that extension to a specific user.
- Enter the SIP domain, extension, and password into the physical phone's configuration menu.
- Place a test call in both directions to confirm audio works.
Enabling it for a user
The assigned user also needs Deskphone enabled in their own Call & Voicemail Settings so calls actually route to it — either as their primary device or as part of a ring-all group.
