Use Auto-Save in the Blog Editor
Auto-Save stores your edits as you type, protecting against browser crashes, lost connections and accidentally closed tabs.
How it behaves
- It is on by default and shows an Autosave on tag in the top bar.
- Saves happen with a short delay so the editor stays responsive.
- If it is off, the tag shows Last saved with a time stamp, or Autosave off when nothing has been saved yet.
Turn it off or on
- Open any post in the editor.
- To disable, hover over the Autosave on tag and click Disable Autosave.
- To enable again, hover over the Last saved tag and click Enable Autosave.
Things to remember
- Your preference is stored in the browser, so it does not follow you to another browser or device.
- With it off, use the manual save control often.
- Auto-Save keeps your work as a draft; it does not publish anything. To change a live post you still choose Update Post.
Good to know: Leave Auto-Save on while writing long articles, and switch it off only when you want to experiment without overwriting a good draft.
