Fixing WordPress Import and Migration Error Messages
When you restore or import a site from a backup file, Vendi Today checks the file and the plugins inside it. A few specific messages mean something in the package is damaged. Here is what each one means and how to clear it.
"File corrupted"
The backup file itself cannot be read. This happens when the archive was damaged during creation or download, either on the original site or on the destination.
- Delete the file you uploaded.
- Create a fresh backup from the original site.
- Upload the new file and try again.
"Plugin is corrupted"
The message names a plugin, for example "Plugin named yith-topbar-countdown is corrupted." The plugin's files are incomplete or damaged, either on the source site or on the destination.
- Remove or delete that plugin on the site where the problem exists.
- Create a new backup, or retry the import.
- Reinstall the plugin afterward from a fresh copy if you still need it.
"Unknown error"
This appears when both a plugin and the file might be at fault. The system checks plugins first, so you will usually see the plugin message before anything else.
- Fix the plugin problem as described above.
- Retry. If the error changes to "File corrupted," delete the file and recreate it.
- Retry again with the clean file.
Prevent problems
- Update plugins on the source site before exporting.
- Remove plugins you no longer use.
- Check that the file finished uploading before starting the import.
- Avoid editing the site while exporting.
Contact support with the exact message and the site name if the same error returns after you have replaced both the plugin and the file.
Good to know: Fix one error at a time; clearing the plugin message often reveals a second, different message about the file.
