Use Airtable Triggers and Actions in Workflows

Airtable steps let you keep a base and your Contacts in sync. A workflow can start when a row appears or changes, and it can create, find, update, or delete rows.

Triggers

  • New Record: a row is added to the chosen table.
  • Updated Record: an existing row changes.

Both are detected by checking Airtable about every five minutes, so expect a short delay.

Actions

  • Find Record: looks up a row by Record ID or field values and returns its data for later steps.
  • Create Record: adds a row using fields you map.
  • Update Record: changes fields on a row identified by ID or by a prior Find step.
  • Delete Record: removes a row permanently.

Connect and use

  1. In Automation > Workflows, click Add New Trigger or + and search for Airtable.
  2. Click Connect Now and authorize, or connect through Settings > Integrations.
  3. Choose the base and table.
  4. For a trigger, click Test Trigger to load a sample row and map its columns.
  5. For an action, map workflow values to the columns.
  6. Save and publish.

Example

When a form submission arrives, run Find Record on the email column. If a row is found, update it; otherwise create a new one. This keeps one row per person.

Billing note

Airtable steps are premium steps, so each run counts toward premium usage.

Good to know: Airtable works on its free plan, but Airtable's own record and request limits still apply.
