Enroll or Remove Related Records in Another Workflow
When a record changes, the people or items linked to it often need to start or stop a sequence too. Add Associated Records to Workflow and Remove Associated Records from Workflow act on those related records instead of only the one that triggered the flow.
How they differ from the basic actions
The regular Add to Workflow and Remove from Workflow actions handle only the current contact. The associated-record versions work in contact, company and custom object workflows, and use an association label to choose which related records are affected.
Settings
- Select an Object: contacts, companies or a custom object type.
- Association Label: required for most pairings. It narrows the selection, for example "Assigned Dealer". It does not apply to company-to-contact links.
- Workflow: the workflow to add them to or take them out of.
Set it up
- Make sure the association and its label exist in your settings.
- In the trigger record's workflow, click + and add the action.
- Choose the object, label and target workflow.
- Save and publish.
Examples
- A Car record becomes Ready for Sale: add its Assigned Dealers to the Dealer Notification workflow.
- The same Car becomes Sold: remove those dealers so updates stop.
- A Company is marked Inactive: remove its contacts from an Active Clients workflow.
Behavior to expect
If no record matches the label, nothing happens. Removal is immediate, and you can re-enroll later with the add action.
Good to know: Use matching labels in both directions so the add and remove actions always target the same group.
