Automatic Tax Calculation

Instead of manually creating and attaching tax rates, Vendi Today can calculate the correct tax for every transaction automatically, based on where your customer is located and what you're selling. This works across funnels, payment links, invoices, estimates, ecommerce stores, and the mobile app, with any connected payment provider.

Turn it on

  1. Go to Payments > Settings > Taxes and toggle on Enable automatic tax.
  2. Choose whether prices should be shown tax-inclusive or with tax added separately at checkout.

Set where you owe tax

Add each country or state/province where your business has a tax obligation (sometimes called a "nexus"). For each one, you can optionally add a tax ID. You'll need to add every jurisdiction you operate in — the system doesn't guess this for you.

Categorize your products (optional but recommended)

Every product can be assigned a specific tax category (for example, clothing, digital goods, or a non-taxable service) from a library of over a thousand predefined categories. Assigning the right category ensures the system applies the correct rate and rules for that type of item rather than a generic default — this matters because tax rules genuinely differ by product type in many regions.

On mobile

Automatic tax also applies to invoices, estimates, and point-of-sale transactions created from the mobile app. Configure your nexus locations and product tax categories on the web first, then simply confirm the customer's address when creating a document on mobile — the tax breakdown calculates and displays before you send it.

What customers see

At checkout, the correct tax is calculated based on the customer's address and appears as its own line item, just like a manually applied tax rate would.
