Run a Split Test in a Funnel
A split test sends visitors to two versions of a funnel step and measures which converts better. Split testing is available in funnels on every plan.
Before you start
The funnel needs a connected domain. Make a clear, noticeable change in your variation, such as a new headline, offer or layout. Small differences give weak results. Avoid editing the original while the test runs.
Create the test
- Go to Sites > Funnels, open the funnel and select the step.
- Click Create Variation and choose how to build it.
- Use the slider to decide what share of traffic goes to the control and to the variation.
- Click Start Split Test, then Apply to confirm.
All visitors use the step's main address and are routed to a dedicated address for each version. Use the gear icon below each version to edit its path.
Read the results
Open the Stats tab and expand the tested step to compare the control and variation as traffic builds.
Good to know about visitors
Tests use browser cookies, so a visitor keeps seeing the same version. To see the other one yourself, use a private window or another browser.
Troubleshooting
- All traffic goes to the control: advertise the step's own domain and path, not the root domain.
- Numbers do not match your split: a direct link to one version may be used elsewhere.
- Ad platform rejects path redirects: run the test on the second step instead.
Good to know: Test one change at a time, and let the test run until each version has a meaningful number of visitors.
