Send Custom Events to Google Analytics from a Workflow
The Google Analytics action fires a custom event into your Google Analytics property whenever a workflow reaches it. This lets you measure events that happen inside Vendi Today, such as a booked appointment or a purchase, right next to your website traffic data. It supports Google Analytics 4 and Universal Analytics.
What you need from Google Analytics
- The Measurement ID of your property.
- An API Secret created in your Google Analytics data stream settings.
- An event name that follows Google's naming rules (letters, numbers, underscores; no spaces).
Configure the action
- Open Automation > Workflows and pick a trigger for the event you want to track.
- Click + and choose Google Analytics.
- Name the action, for example "Send lead event to GA".
- Choose the Action Type: Google Analytics 4 or Universal Analytics.
- Paste the Measurement ID (required).
- Enter the Event Name (required), such as
generate_leadorpurchase. - Paste the API Secret (required).
- Optionally enter an Event Value, for example the sale amount.
- Save and publish.
Trigger ideas
- Form Submitted: a
form_submittedorgenerate_leadevent. - Appointment Booked: an
appointment_bookedevent. - Tag Added: record when someone becomes a "New Lead".
- Product Purchase: a
purchaseevent with the order amount as the value. - Page View: track visits to an important page.
Tips
- Use the same event names across workflows so reports stay tidy.
- Test with one contact, then check the real-time report in Google Analytics.
- Typos in the Measurement ID or secret are the usual reason events do not appear, and the data can take time to show in standard reports.
- Respect your privacy policy and consent requirements; do not send personal data in event values.
Good to know: Mark your most important events as conversions inside Google Analytics so they show up in conversion reports.
